Telehealth brings the appointment to you.
Allied health telehealth uses video or telephone technology to connect you with a clinician without travelling to a clinic or waiting for a home visit. A session can include assessment, therapy, coaching, education, planning and progress review when online delivery is appropriate.
Telehealth is a delivery option—not a different standard of care. The clinician still tailors the appointment to your goals and circumstances.
Convenient access without losing the personal connection.
Telehealth can make ongoing support easier to fit around location, mobility, work, school and family commitments. It can also help supporters join from different places.
Reduce travel and disruption
Attend from a private, familiar space without needing to travel to an appointment.
Reach clinicians beyond your local area
Telehealth may improve access to an appropriate clinician when local options are limited.
Practise strategies in your own environment
Work on relevant routines using the items, technology and supports already available to you.
Include your support network
Family, carers, support workers or other professionals may join with consent when collaboration is useful.
Start with your needs—not the technology.
Tell us the service you need, what you want help with and how you would prefer to participate. We will explain whether online, in-person or blended support is the most appropriate option.
Travel, mobility or distance makes appointments harder
You live in a regional or remote community
You would like family or supporters to join remotely
You prefer the comfort and familiarity of home
You need regular reviews, coaching or therapy
You want to combine online and in-person appointments
Allied health disciplines that may be available online.
Availability depends on clinician capacity, location, funding, the purpose of the appointment and whether the service can be delivered safely and effectively online.
Occupational Therapy
Goal review, skill-building, routines, coaching and selected assessments. Physical environment, equipment and complex assessments may require in-person input.

Assessment and therapeutic support for emotional wellbeing, behaviour, coping, relationships and participation.
Speech Pathology
Communication assessment, therapy, coaching and reviews. Swallowing and mealtime concerns may require direct observation or in-person assessment.
Positive Behaviour Support
Consultation, behaviour support planning, coaching, stakeholder collaboration and selected assessment activities.
Dietetics
Nutrition assessment, goal-setting, education, meal planning and collaborative review of nutrition strategies.
Physiotherapy
Education, exercise review, coaching and progress monitoring when hands-on assessment or treatment is not required.
Exercise Physiology
Individual exercise planning, technique coaching, behaviour change support and program review where online delivery is safe.
Multidisciplinary support
With consent, Bloom clinicians can coordinate across disciplines and include family, carers or other members of the support team.
Telehealth is not suitable for emergencies. Call Triple Zero (000) in an emergency or contact an appropriate crisis service.
A clear, supported path to your first session.
You do not need specialist equipment or technical knowledge. Bloom will explain what is required before the appointment.
Tell us what you need
Share the discipline, funding pathway, goals and any access or communication preferences.
We confirm suitability
A team member checks availability and whether telehealth, in-person or blended delivery best fits the clinical purpose.
Prepare your space
Choose a private, comfortable area with a charged device and stable internet. We send the appointment instructions.
Connect and review
Your clinician completes the session, agrees on next steps and reviews whether the delivery method continues to work for you.
National access with personalised clinical support.
Telehealth should make support easier to access without making it feel impersonal. Bloom’s clinicians adapt the session around the person, the goal and the real-world context.
Clinical suitability first
We do not present telehealth as the right option for every person or every assessment.
Choice of delivery
Where available, support may be online, in person or blended to suit changing needs.
Accessible communication
Tell us about communication, sensory, cognitive or technology needs so the session can be planned appropriately.
Collaborative care
With consent, supporters and other professionals can participate from different locations.
Answers before you connect.
If you are unsure whether telehealth is suitable, contact Bloom. We can discuss your service, goals, location and funding pathway.
What is allied health telehealth?
Allied health telehealth is an appointment with a qualified clinician using secure video or, where appropriate, telephone technology. Your clinician can discuss goals, observe activities, provide therapy, coach supporters and review progress when online delivery is clinically suitable.
Which Bloom Healthcare services may be available by telehealth?
Depending on your needs and clinical suitability, telehealth may be available for occupational therapy, psychology and counselling, speech pathology, dietetics, positive behaviour support, physiotherapy and exercise physiology. Some assessments and interventions still require an in-person appointment.
Can NDIS participants use telehealth?
Is telehealth available under Support at Home, Medicare or private funding?
Telehealth may be available through several funding pathways, including Support at Home, Medicare, private payment and some compensation arrangements. Eligibility, referrals, rebates and fees depend on the service and individual circumstances.
What technology do I need?
You generally need a phone, tablet or computer with a camera and microphone, a stable internet connection and a private space. Bloom will explain the appointment link and any materials to prepare.
Can a family member, carer or support worker join?
Yes, with the client’s consent and when their involvement supports the purpose of the appointment. The clinician can also clarify who should attend before the session.
Is telehealth suitable for every assessment?
No. Suitability depends on the assessment, clinical risks, the person’s preferences, communication needs, technology and whether the clinician needs to observe the physical environment directly. Bloom may recommend in-person or blended support instead.
How do I arrange a telehealth appointment?
Contact Bloom Healthcare or submit a referral and select telehealth as your preferred delivery option. The team will confirm the discipline, funding pathway, clinical suitability and appointment availability.
Ask whether telehealth could work for you.
Tell us the service you need and we will help you understand the most appropriate next step.
